The ENABLE conference is the first European PhD and Postdoc symposium and was held in Barcelona last November for its first edition with more than 300 young scientists and over 30 companies working in Biomedicine. The ENABLE project is an initiative included in the “Celebrating European Science” section of the EU’s Horizon 2020 Program.
The initiative is thought to build a network of young scientists and break the barriers of the academic world, promoting crosstalk between biomedical disciplines, collaboration with industry and public engagement. The conference, entitled "Breaking down complexity. Innovative models and techniques in Biomedicine" connected the students with new career opportunities in the world of science unexplored for most researchers.
We attended the Career Day included in the program, were the participants had the opportunity of boosting their professional future as young researchers. Participants had the chance to broaden their horizons talking to experts from different areas in the Career Chats, gain new skills participating in different workshops and look for new job options at the Opportunity Fair in sectors like biotechnology, pharmaceutical or publishing world. The BBI takes part actively in the ENABLE project and our CEO, Juan R. García, gave two workshops about Intellectual Property Valuation and Knowledge Transfer, and Business Planning and Innovation in life sciences.
The Biotechnology Business Institute will be present in the remaining editions of the ENABLE conference over Europe during the next three years in the cities of Copenhagen (Denmark), Nijmegen (the Netherlands) and Milan (Italy).
