BARCELONA, 16 Nov. – More than 300 PhD and Postdoctoral students from all over Europe have met in the first European symposium of Biomedicine held in the Palauet Casades, in the centre of Barcelona. The conference, entitled "Breaking down complexity. Innovative models and techniques in Biomedicine" connected the students with new career opportunities in the world of science unexplored for most researchers.

During the Career Day, the students had the opportunity of getting into touch with some of the most innovative and successful Catalonian companies working on science. Almost 30 companies related with the biomedical sector took part in the opportunity fair and made their speeches presenting their open positions.

Juan R. García, the Chairman of the IEB and managing partner at BioSeed Capital, attended the workshops of Intellectual Property Valuation and Knowledge Transfer and Business Planning and Innovation in life sciences.

Topics such as drug discovery and patent, technology transfer and funding methods occupied most of the questions and curiosities among the students. Juan R. García mentioned and explained key aspects also taught during the master programs, essential concepts that the young scientist were pleased to know for the development of their careers in both academia and private sector.

The Biotechnology Business Institute will be present in the remaining editions of ENABLE over Europe during the next three years in the cities of Copenhagen (Denmark), Nijmegen (the Netherlands) and Milan (Italy).
